Red or Yellow Card? No it's a pistol!

When things started to go wrong during a Brazilian amateur football game, the referee took drastic action. Reach for a card? No. He went for his gun.
Players and staff of the Amantes da Bola and Brumahdinho teams brawled, with referee Gabriel Murta getting kicked and slapped during the melee. So instead of reaching into his shirt for the card, he went back to the changing room for his firearm.
Video footage emerged of the referee brandishing a handgun at players before being led away by other match officials.
No arrests were made, but according to Globo newspaper the referee was to be given a psychological evaluation.

  • - Classical Arabic - it commonly the language of the Qur'an and classical literature. It differs from Modern Standard Arabic mainly in style and vocabulary, some of which is archaic. All Muslims are expected to recite the Qur'an in the original language, however many rely on translations in order to understand the text.

Edit Mac Hosts File In Terminal With Nano

you can edit host file directly in Terminal using the UNIX Nano Text Editor, which is built in to OS X.

To get started, launch Terminal, type the following command, and press Return. As with all sudo commands, you’ll need to also enter your admin password to execute it:

sudo nano /private/etc/hosts

You’ll now see the hosts file open in the Nano editor. To navigate and edit the file, use the arrow keys on your keyboard.

Just as we did with the TextEdit method, above, we can add, edit, or remove hostname mappings at will. Because we launched Nano using sudo, any changes will be authenticated and saved directly to the original hosts file, without the need to copy it outside of its home directory.

When you’re done making changes, press Control-X to exit the editor, Y to save, and Return to overwrite the existing hosts file. As we mentioned earlier, make sure to flush your DNS cache if you notice that your new mappings aren’t working properly.

How to Check checkbox checked property using JQuery

Question:I need to check the checked property of a checkbox and perform an action based on the checked property using jQuery.

For example, if the age checkbox is checked, then I need to show a textbox to enter age, else hide the textbox.

But the following code returns false by default:
if($('#isAgeSelected').attr('checked')) {
$("#txtAge").show();
} else {
$("#txtAge").hide();
}
How do I successfully query the checked property?

Answer1:
The .checked property of a checkbox DOM element will tell give you the checked state of the element.

Given your existing code, you could therefore do this:
if(document.getElementById('isAgeSelected').checked) {
$("#txtAge").show();
} else {
$("#txtAge").hide();
}
However, there's a much prettier way to do this, using toggle:
$('#isAgeSelected').click(function () {
$("#txtAge").toggle(this.checked);
});

Answer2:
Use jQuery's is() function:
if($("#isAgeSelected").is(':checked'))
$("#txtAge").show();  // checked
else
$("#txtAge").hide();  // unchecked

Learn Arabic Series - Greetings

As an expat in Dubai it was my dream to learn Arabic on the day one I landed here.  Few of the Arabic online lessons helped me to learn a little, but never took me in a satisfactory level. Now I restarted my learning challenge and thought to share the learning with the people who want to learn Arabic.

This is the first post on learning Arabic conversation skills in Dubai.

One fine day morning I am reaching office and my Arabic colleague reached office already. I thought to have a short conversation with him, went to his office and wished

Assalam - o- alikum أسلم عليكم

.(Peace from God be upon you) immediately he responded by saying

wa 'alaykum salaam wa rahmathullahو عليكم سلام و رحمتهلله

(Peace and mercy from God upon you too). Yes this is the traditional responses all arabic or Muslim people using. The things to note here when you wish peace the second person will respond with an addition of mercy too. This is more than a normal wish for them and it is a prayer too. As we are involved with several things in life getting a peace in life very important.
The better greeting and reply are illustrated in the following Hadith concerning the companions of Muhammad, Umar, and Abu Bakr, riding together on one mount. When they passed by people, Abu Bakr(RA) greeted them saying: "Assalamu alaikum" and they replied: "Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatu Allah." Or he may greet them saying: "Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatu Allah," for which their reply was: "Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatu Allah wa barakatuh." Abu Bakr(RA) commented: "Today, people have gained much more than us." Sahih al-Bukhari in Al-Adab Al-Mufrad
I continued by saying

Sabah el khair صباح الخير

-Good Morning!. then he said SabaaH an-nuur صباح أن نور morning of light

I was little pause as I was thinking what to ask him next, without waiting my response he asked me kayf Haalak? كيف حالك  (How are you?)
I said

Ana bi-khayr, al-Hamdu lillah - أنا بي خير الحمدلله

I am fine thank you.
"hey Khalid" my manager calling me and want to go to him immediately so I decided to leave by saying good bye

ma'a as-salaama

(goodbye)

Some more forms of Arabic greeting

Prayer and confidence is the key to success in your driving test by richie

Name : Richie
Driving school: Galadari institute
Second attempt

Test procedure explaining by Richie

Passed my licence test at Galadari institute yest at 2:30pm by Gods grace! The blog was really helpful. This was my second attempt and i had only 5 minor mistakes thanks to god. In the first attempt i had 11 minor mistakes and 1 major mistake, which was not stopping at a stop sign.

I arrived at the center by 11:30, and had to wait till 2:00 to get my chance, I was the first one to drive. I made sure i did all the primary checks like seat, steering, mirrors and seat belt, put the car in drive, pulled down the handbrake and put the indicators before reversing(important step which people often forget).

Roundabout and parking

I was told to drive for some time and to take my chances , ya3ni make good judgement. I drove and was asked to take a left after roundabout, after taking it i made sure i did the mirror check ,head check and the indicators and turned to the slow lane. I was again told to take a U turn from a roundabout, again i made sure i went to the slow lane soon after exiting the roundabout( this is a must do procedure and you should not move along the fast lane for a long time).During my session I also made sure that I stopped at all stop signs. I was told to take a right and again a right and finally i was told to drive into a parking lot and made to park in a 90 degree parking. I parked and put the car on park and pulled the handbrake up. The officer then told the next person to drive. I got back and was pretty nervous about my outcome, even though I felt Ok with my driving, because the officer told me that i had to perfect my parking. After everybody's session when we arrived at the center, the officer was talking to the other two about each of their mistakes and after that he talked to me and told me, u have to be careful wen u do parking and said but today my friend u pass! I couldn't believe it, and I couldn't till i got my licence printed lol.

The nice officer

The R.T.A officer was very kind and funny, he kept encouraging all of us to drive without tension and always keep smiling, and he even kept talking and cracking jokes in between our sessions, God bless him!. Unfortunately though other two people with me failed, because one guy dint stop at a stop sign and the other guy kept going on a fast lane without changing, even after the officer trying to help him understand this is not the way to go. Neways I sincerely wish them all the best for their next try, and I pray they get it.

I want to tell u guys, prayer and confidence is the key, and along with that i have to tell all of u that even if u fail, please don't blame the officer or the institute because, in most cases its not true, and if we keep blaming others for our failure we will not learn and correct our mistake. Most people do not understand the major mistakes ya3ni the Immediate fails and minor mistakes. Learn in such a way that even if u might make a few small mistakes, never make an immediate fail mistake, and this tip for me was crucial in passing the test.

Tips

  1. Reach for the test early
  2. In case of fail learn and correct our mistake instead of blaming
  3. Learn in such a way that even if u might make a few small mistakes, never make an immediate fail mistake
  4. Go to the the slow lane soon after exiting the roundabout

Essential guide to get driving license Dubai

Once you landed in Dubai you may required to obtain your driving license because of number of reasons. That could be one of the essential document for your job(for example driver job), or you need a convenient transport mode for your family. Whatever the needs you need to have valid license to drive vehicle in dubai or any where in UAE . also for other states like Sharjah, Ajman.

The below guide will give you details on how to go for it.

Driving licences can be obtained by adult UAE citizens/residents after training from an authorized driving school in Dubai. If you are 18-21 year of age, you can apply for a probationary licence.

You have to make ready below required documents to apply for driving licence in Dubai or UAE

Driving license cost

Do you know the driving license in Dubai is a costly affair. The cost for driving license will come around 3000 to 4000 dirhams if you pass in the first test. This may vary in between driving school because they charging differently for per class. For example 60 AED in Belhasa but it is 65AED in EDI.

Every fails will add up to 800 to 900 to this cost. Suppose if a person pass in 4th test it will cost him approximately 6500/-. You can check with driving school for exact amount.

Yeah as you think it is costly, but how can you reduce this amount.

Cost saving tips
  • Offers: Some offers rarely appears in cobone or groupon websites. So keep an eye on that, mostly the offer like it will give you 50% discount on first 10 classes
  • Early bird: focus to pass on first or second time. follow the tips :)

Steps

1. Get an eye test done either at an optician or at your driving school.
2. The school will handle all paper-work with RTA who may even have a counter at the school.
3. Receive your temporary driving licence, which you must carry in your training car.
4. Once you have passed all internal tests like garage and parking, your school will apply for your theory test followed by your road test.

Theory Test

The theory test is carried out at the five authorized driving schools. Don't forget to carry relevant ID, driving file+ 2 photos and theory test RTA fee of AED 200.

A total of 35 questions on road signals, hazards and guidelines on safe-driving will be asked in either English, Arabic or Urdu, with more languages to be added later. Candidates who cannot read the touch-screen or are not computer literate can take the examination orally. The first segment with 17 questions focuses on general traffic situations, and the candidate will need to answer a minimum of 11 correct to pass. The second segment has 18 questions related to the specific driving license the candidate requires and a minimum of 12 correct answers are required to be eligible for the road test.

Road Test

On the date assigned, go with your passport, driving file+ 2 photos to the RTA Licence Section as advised by your driving school. Fill up application form & submit fees (around AED 200 for road test). When your name is called out, go along with the other three candidates and the RTA inspector to the designated car. You will be given just a few minutes to demonstrate your driving and anticipatory skills.

Dubai Driving Test Tips
If you fail, you will have to register with your driving school for at least 7 more classes and get a new road-test date.

If you pass, collect the approval paper from your inspector and go to the Pass Counter. Submit along with suitable ID & AED 100. Collect your test file and submit to Control Counter. After processing, pay required fee and proceed to photo area. When your name is called out, have your photo taken. Congratulations. In a few minutes, you will receive your DL and be eligible to drive in Dubai and the UAE.

Major and Minor Mistakes list in Dubai driving test

Which moments you are hating in your driving test journey in Dubai or which moment you loving most? Surely if you undergo at least one final RTA test you might know that.
You love mostly collecting your test score sheet with the result as Pass, and hating to fail and that too with lot of mistakes oh no!!!. It was one of the worst hating moments was in my life.
See the classification of two types of fails and related items based on the test score sheets which I collected during my various tests in the Driving license test on Dubai.

Immediate fails

As the category says it will fail you immediately if you committed any such mistakes. If for example, if candidate changing the lane without ensuring whether it is clear or not he failed at that moment itself. No further testing required in that case.
The types of mistakes which falling under immediate fails are,

  • Making an action triggering the intervention of the examiner
This is like candidate made a wrong decision to merge in to high way without checking whether the vehicles are coming from left or not. it states that the student driven in such a way that -> it made a collision or accident with any other car or the objects like pavements or post, or it went to hit the object but because other car driver suddenly turned or examiner helped to avoid such collision.
  • Lack of vehicle control to the extent that proceeding with traffic - This will be in candidate mark sheet if he/she doesn't have much control on the car. Just for example he may not stop on required spot or swervinf while changing lane all makes this error.
  • Failure to follow the required maneuver
  • Failure to ensure the lane is clear before lane changing.

Minor mistakes

The minor mistakes are which may happen for learning drivers or even for experienced drivers. In your driving test the same type of mistakes will count repeatedly. For example; if you swerving during lane change multiple times, it will count as how much time you committed that mistake.
The types of mistakes which falling under minor mistakes are,

Mirror

  • Checking mirror too late
  • Does not check mirrors before signaling or braking

Lane change

  • Unsteady movement
  • Sudden swerving

follow here to know more about correct lane change.

Approach

• Too fast

Judgment

• does not give way to the vehicle

Turn right

• Does not start from the correct lane or line of traffic

Progress

• Drives too fast for the condition

Position on Road

• Drives either too far right or too far left of the lane.

Conclusion

It is important to note that candidate fails if he committed any immediate fails or minor mistakes more than 11. If you get less than or equal to 11 minor mistakes you will pass. But if you get any immediate fail the result will be which you should not wish to be.
Have you got any other mistakes in your testing score sheet? Please share your thoughts.

Pass on 27th test and spend 40,000Dhs for Driving license in Dubai.. Unbelievable story

An Indian strived for four long years to earn a driving licence in the UAE. He now dreams of making a movie of his attempts.

After spending almost Dh40,000 on 27 attempts and postponing his wedding, Namsheed at last got his driving licence on February 18, 2014.

The 28-year-old new driver says he changed several instructors in two emirates (Ajman and Sharjah) and even missed attending a family funeral in the process.

“I came to the UAE about 10 years ago, after my music albums and cinema plans went awry. For six years I worked in Nizwa Cafeteria, Sharjah. And because of long work hours, I could not take up driving. Then, when I got a chance to be part of a new business in Ajman four years back, I decided to open a driving licence file. In fact, Ibrahim Haji, a family friend, persuaded me to take up driving, so I could change my job and become a delivery staff and earn better,” says Muringolihas.

“I have changed at least seven driving instructors, taken four to five classes per day sometimes and even vouched offerings in the masjid back home. My relatives, too, began praying for my success. I used to earn Dh1,200 per month and spent a fortune on classes.”

“I never gave up hope. After every failure, I somehow managed money for the next test. Initially, I used to pay Dh360 for getting the closest test date - within 12 days. Later I began paying only Dh180 for a test date after 22 days. Driving instructors would insist on my taking 25 classes before each test. I would spend Dh35 per class for half-an-hour class,” he says.

“Initially I failed many times because I could not balance clutch and break together. Then I could not change lanes or take U-turns correctly. However, I guess the main reason was my tension. I even took tablets to control my tension during driving. I think my worries stem from a major accident I was involved in when I was once on my way back from Dubai after a shopping spree. The taxi in which I was travelling flipped over after a speeding vehicle rammed into it from behind. The taxi driver was seriously injured. I luckily escaped unhurt. But that day’s memories haunt me till date. I guess that could be one of the reasons of my many failures in getting a driving licence.”

Muringolihas recalls his throat going dry and hands trembling whenever he took the wheels for his tests.

"In fact, on February 18 - when I was attempting for the 27th time – my fiancee’s father had passed away in a road accident in India. So I was not in a good frame of mind to give the test. But I passed.

“I got engaged to Shabeena in August 2013. The marriage was postponed because I wanted to get the driving licence before tying the knot. Now, I will go home and get married,” he says and adds that he will look for a better job after he returns.

Muringolihas burnt a suitcase full of driving documents because “I did not wish to keep the bad memoirs of my repeated failures”.

“Earlier when I failed in my film and music ventures, my friends and colleagues made fun of me. When my attempts at earning a driving licence also took long, I was once again the recipient of their bad humour. But, now everybody is congratulating me. May be I will make a movie about my driving licence attempts. But before that I need to fulfill all the vows made and give some money to charity as well,” says an elated Muringolihas - a native of Kasargode, Kerala.

Lane Change

Question: For my lane change manuering ,when i do shoulder check my car swerve (moves ),what is going wrong i cant understand please help me am I holding the steering wrong while moving my head,please help.

Answer:
This is one of the problem for every one during the learning mainly because we hold the steering very tightly. So avoid that first. You should hold steering very lightly.
The swerving happening mainly because you are trying to change the lane during the shoulder check which is a dangerous act.
Take care below things

  • Keep the steering straight while doing the mirror and shoulder check. And after shoulder check you have to check again the center mirror. Once all this clear only you turn the steering to the lane you wish to move too.
  • You have to turn smoothly to the new lane once checked properly
Practice more with your instructor.

Turning

Question:While turning the car to right for changing road,intersection, how to start and how to turn correctly
Answer:

  • Switch on your right signal
  • Stop in the stop signal - Just before the solid line. you have to stop completely if that is stop signal even if there is no traffic from left side. If it broken line it means give way, and you can see give way signal too. Here you don't need to stop completely. Here you continue if no traffic from you left
  • Scan the traffic from your left side. If there is no traffic you can proceed
  • If there is traffic wait for the traffic to clear. Once clear you can proceed

Drive safely on U-turns learn the tips

Do you know how to drive in the U-turns? Do you know how to safely take a U-turn?
Driving in U-turn is an important subject in the driving test and in your driving practice and it is mandatory you should know because in your final driving test you have to face it to grab your license.

# The U-turn drive in a final test

One day I was driving through the Al-Qusais area and I am in open U-turn (I will talk about open/closed U-turn in a moment). In front of my car I saw EDI test car which hold the label behind the car saying 'caution.. Driver under the test' I looked in to the car and saw there are three candidates and an examiner inside. One of them was driving and he is going to take U-turn. He given the indicator. Good. You should provide the indicator. Next he looked the on-coming traffic from his left side. He wait patiently and after ensuring there is no further vehicle he took the U-turn. There is another vehicle in his opposite side, he given the way to him as well Is he right on his procedure?
Yes he is absolutely right. In open U-turn he should give way to the vehicle to your opposite side too.

# Type of mistake which you should avoid

Here the majority of the student committing the mistake is even if there is no traffic coming from right side too he will wait the command from the examiner to proceed. You should not. They will watch every moment and if you are waiting for the examiner to say the result is the candidate is not having confidence to drive on traffic which is major mistake. Instead you should scan the traffic properly and take a proper decision. Ensure there is no traffic from your right side and proceed

Download and install java 6 JDK for macbook maverick(10.9.4)

java 6 jdk for mac maverick(10.9.4) - install specific jdk on mac.

As I found from forum that for apple the java sdk is not from Oracle my first try was to find out where is it got pre-installed or not.

so got the answer that from https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_mac.xml

Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and above: Java is not pre-installed with Mac OS X versions 10.7 and above. To get the latest Java from Oracle, you will need Mac OS X 10.7.3 and above.

so I need to install so I went to
https://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_install.xml

Here I couldn't see the version 6 which I was looking for. If you also looking for version 6 you can see the note like this
The screen shots and instructions below are for Java 7 Update 6 (7u6). If you are installing another version, make sure you change the version number appropriately.

Nothing on the page helped me. Again dependent to the geeks on SO. Found this URL in one of the topic

Done? Not yet.
Went to terminal and typed java -version so I can see it correctly installed

Now I need to know the install location It is hard to find where it got installed. because I need the install location to add the jboss to intellij
finally found in the path /Library/Java/Home and fullpath of sdk is /System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk/Contents/Home

How to drive on roundabouts in Dubai Driving exam

Roundabouts

Have you ever wondered why the need of roundabouts? I have seen lot of Roundabouts in Dubai which was a surprise for me!

Roundabouts are made to smooth traffic in the intersections. And mostly it will be more than one lane. In Dubai you can see many roundabouts in internal roads. If you are learning driving in the Belhasa centres you may be knowing this as the route where test takes place having few roundabouts you have to drive. You can see this symbol to indicate there is a roundabot you are approaching.

Things to take care on roundabouts

On approaching the roundabouts you have to reduce your speed to about to 20KMPH it will help you to gain good control and can give way to other vehicles in the roundabout.

You must give way to the vehicle already in the roundabout and also the traffic from your left side. You can enter the roundabout when there is a safe gap and you feel safe.

Treat this intersection exactly as you would for any other intersection you encountered and cautious too.

There are some rules you need to understand and follow for safe driving that  if Depend on the direction where you are going through the roundabout

You have to choose correct lane for exit from roundabout.

# 1 Turning right

If you are turning right, signal right on approaching the roundabout.

Check the traffic from your left side and if any vehicle approaching you have to give way. Also if there is an enough gap you have to drive through. Then only enter the roundabout.

# 2 continue straight

If you are going straight, do not signal on approach.  You’re not turning, you are simply steering around the traffic circle.  If you signal right, people think you are turning right; and that could be dangerous as he may try to overtake you by assuming you are going right.

When you pass the first exit turn on the right signal to indicate you are exiting the roundabout and quickly check your blind spot to ensure any one mistaking trying pass you from your right side

# 3 Left turn

If you are turning left, signal left before the traffic circle.  This is particularly important in the case where there’s an oncoming vehicle approaching after you’ve already entered the circle. If you have your left signal on, the driver should yield to you and it should be obvious where you are going.  If you don’t have a signal, or you signal too late, the driver may assume you’re going straight and might pull in front of you.

Always be prepared in the case where other drivers may not give way.  Some drivers are confused at these intersections and this cause trouble too.

The roundabout driving especially in Dubai have different direction sign depends on Two Lanes or Three Lanes. And the rules will slightly vary depends on number of lanes.

Roundabout on Two lane road

Two Lane road

Go to right: If you want to go to right from the two way r/a, Approach in the right lane and stay in that lane. Signal to right. Leave the right hand lane.

Go to straight: If you wish to proceed straight you can chose either right hand land lane or left hand lane. Important to remember that you have to proceed with the same lane which you chosen to enter. That means if you chose left hand lane to enter you should exit through left hand lane only.

If you want to turn right immediate after exiting roundabout you can choose right hand lane to enter. Otherwise you can use left hand lane.

No signal required on approach. Signal right once you passed the first ext.

Go to left: If you want to take left or u-turn always take left hand lane

Signal left on approach. Signal right once you passed second exit. Check vehicle on right when you decided to exit. Also follow the correct lane when exit.

Roundabout on Three lane road

Three lane road

Go to right: You can follow same procedure for two lane road, Approach in the right lane and stay in that lane. Signal to right. Leave the right hand lane.

Go to straight: If you wish to proceed straight you can chose either right hand lane or center lane. Important to remember that you have to proceed with the same lane which you chosen to enter. That means if you chose center lane to enter you should exit through left hand lane only.

Same as two lane roar, If you want to turn right immediate after exiting roundabout you can choose right hand lane to enter. Otherwise you can use center lane.

No signal required on approach. Signal right once you passed the first ext.

Go to left: Same as two lane road If you want to take left or u-turn always take left hand lane

Signal left on approach. Signal right once you passed second exit. Check vehicle on right when you decided to exit. Also follow the correct lane when exit.

Note: Don't forget to signal right once you pass the second exit because you have to cross two lanes to exit and vehicle will be there on the right. They will be knowing you are exiting the roundabout only by knowing your signal. If unknowingly vehicle coming on right you should not exit instead you should take a round and rady to exit.

What is in the exam

  • Drive through the roundabout
  • Correct use of signals
  • Proper scanning of road and other vehicles and road users.
  • Usage of proper lane while approaching roundabout and exiting roundabout
  • Yielding(Giving way) to other vehicles

Conclusion

As this is one of the mandatory subject in the RTA exam in Dubai you should do well to get your license. Good luck to you.

How was your experience on driving through roundabout?
